Prince George’s first ridesharing service has officially launched

Uride has launched in Prince George, bringing ride sharing to the northern capital at long last.

The app will start picking up customers at noon today.

Companies like Uber and Lyft have been around for over a decade, but no ride sharing companies have even attempted to venture into Prince George.

“We understood that other companies didn’t want to come here” said Dhami, Uride’s Regional Operations Manager. “That doesn’t excuse the fact that the people of Prince George need this service.”

He says between themselves and taxis, especially during the “bar rush” hours, wait times for a ride will be lowered which in turn should cut down on people deciding to drive home impaired.

Uride will be immediate competition for our taxi companies, and Dhami claims his service will be about 30% cheaper than calling a cab.

Uride is an Ontario based company that started in Thunder Bay.

Prince George is the third city to get the service, following Kelowna and Kamloops.
