The dream of a home playoff game will have to wait at least one more year for the UNBC Timberwolves.
On the final day of the Canada West men’s soccer regular season, the T-Wolves dropped a 2-0 decision on Sunday at the hands of the Fraser Valley Cascades in Abbotsford.
Just before half-time, Mateo Brazinha beat UNBC goalkeeper Daniel Zadravec for an early 1-0 lead.
The Cascades iced the victory in the game’s final 12 minutes as Taylor Richardson notched his eighth of the season.
Timberwolves head coach Steve Simonson elected to dress a much younger lineup in the finale due to an accumulation of yellow cards.
Starters, Gregor Smith, Kaiden Miner, Michael Henman, Anthony Preston, and Koby Greaves were scratched as a result.
UNBC ends up in third place in the Pacific Division with a record of 8-5-3, while UFV concludes with a mark of 7-6-2.
The Timberwolves will head on the road for the Canada West playoffs and will play the Alberta Golden Bears (5-2-7) in Edmonton.
U of A defeated UNBC by a 4-1 score in the regular season on September 16th.
