PG’s new city council’s first regular meeting may be pushed back a week

Prince George’s new city council will meet for their Inaugural Meeting tomorrow. (Monday)

During the meeting, the new council will be sworn in, with not much business to attend to.

Items that are on the agenda include the appointment of the acting Mayors for this council term should new Mayor Simon Yu be unavailable, as well as the Appointments of Municipal Directors to the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George.

However, there is one item on tomorrow’s agenda that will have an immediate impact.

Council will be voting whether or not to move their Regular Council Meeting scheduled for Monday, November 21st to Monday, November 28th.

According to an email from a spokesperson from the City, not all Council members are available to attend the November 21st meeting, so administration is recommending the meeting be moved.

The last time council met for a Regular Council Meeting was before the election on October 3rd.

If council says yes to moving the meeting to the 28th, eight weeks will have passed since the last full, regular meeting.
