Ottawa says provinces need to share health indicators in order to receive more funding

Federal health minister Jean-Yves Duclos says Ottawa is willing to increase health care funding but only if it sees solid results.

Duclos is meeting in Vancouver with his federal and territorial counterparts, who have been demanding Ottawa increase its share of the costs from 22 percent to 35 percent an increase of about 40 billion dollars a year.

Duclos adds the provinces must agree to share a common set of health indicators, including access to family doctors and mental health supports, so Canadians will see solid improvement in the health care system.
