Two goals from Herrington not enough, Spruce Kings drop third straight

The Prince George Spruce Kings are 0-2-1 in their last three games while trying to break the 10-win mark, losing on the road to the Merritt Centennials last night (Thursday) 3-2.

John Herrington scored the Kings’ two goals, one with just 58 seconds left in the game while the net was empty.

Centennials’ Ryan Spinale also had two goals in the game.

The Kings put 40 shots on goaltender Johnny Hicks, who made 38 saves in a first-star performance.

Jordan Fairlie made 19 saves on 22 shots.

Prince George went 0/5 on the powerplay and 5/6 killing penalties, they outshot Merritt 40-22 in the game.

The loss moves the Spruce Kings’ record to 9-5-1-1, and Merritt’s to 5-9-2-0.

The Spruce Kings remain in third place in the Interior division with 20 points, both Salmon Arm and Cranbrook are in fifth with 19.

The two teams will rematch tonight, again in Merritt.

The Spruce Kings will return home on Wednesday (November 16th) to host to Alberni Valley Bulldogs.

Surprise visit brings big smiles to boy battling cancer in Quesnel

A young man battling eye cancer received a surprise visit over the Canada Day long weekend by a car club and motorcycle club in Quesnel. Over 50 vehicles from the Prospector’s Car Club and the Dangerous Curves Motorbike Club drove by and filled the dead-end roads near Kellen Harper-Frederiko’s house, with well wishes, toys to give to Kellen, and chances for him to sit in and on cars and bikes.

Some Northern Interior Health Unit services moving next year

Northern Health's Northern Interior Health Unit (NIHU) will be making a move in spring 2026.  According to Northern Health, the current NIHU building will be deconstructed after the move to make space for the tower.
