WHL:

The Prince George Cougars added toughness to their lineup by acquiring 20-year-old forward Jaxsen Wiebe from the Edmonton Oil Kings in return for 20-year-old forward Noah Boyko and a third-round draft pick in 2023.

Conditional picks are also part of the deal.

In 120 WHL games with the Oil Kings and the Red Deer Rebels, the 6’2” 209 pound Wiebe
has 60 points (22G-38A) and 225 penalty minutes.

Wiebe, who helped Edmonton win the league championship last season, has been suspended by the WHL on five different occasions, including one for seven games for a check from behind major on November 12th of this year against Saskatoon.

The (13-10) PG Cougars host the (11-11-1-1) Regina Pats and scoring leader Connor Bedard Friday night.

The game is sold out.

The Pats play in Kelowna tonight (Tuesday) and Kamloops Wednesday before heading to PG.

The Cougars and the (11-5-3-1) Blazers are tied for first in the B.C. Division, although Kamloops has three games in hand.

The (13-7-1-1) Prince George Spruce Kings host the (12-8-1) Cranbrook Bucks Friday and Saturday.

The Spruce Kings are 3rd and the Bucks 5th in the 9-team Interior Division.

Canada West basketball:

The UNBC Timberwolves have reached their December break in Canada West basketball.

They will resume league play on January 6th and 7th when they host the Manitoba Bisons.

UNBC is 5-3 (men) and 1-7 (women).

BC Elite Hockey League: (BCEHL)

(Under-18)

The (5-8-1) U18 Cariboo Cougars visit the Valley West Giants on Dec. 10th (11:45 AM) in Delta and 11th (10 AM) in Langley.

Cariboo is 7th and Greater Vancouver 2nd in the 9-team league.

(U18 female)

The (6-11-2) Northern Capitals do not play their next league games until January 6th in Richmond.
