There weren’t many penalties handed out, but they proved to be the undoing of the Prince George Spruce Kings in last night’s (Saturday) 4-1 loss to the Cranbrook Bucks.
The Spruce Kings were down 1-0 heading into the second period, but Jack Stockfish notched his sixth of the year to tie the game in front of 639 fans at the Kopar Memorial Arena.
Momentum was shifting towards the Spruce Kings until a tripping call sent Ben LeFranc to the box.
The Bucks scored a pair of powerplay goals on two different attempts just 65 seconds apart.
Cranbrook added an empty net marker with seven seconds remaining on the clock to seal the win.

The Spruce Kings (13-9-1-1) have now lost three in a row, and find themselves fifth in the BCHL’s Interior Division standings.

The Spruce Kings will be on the road this week for a getaway game with the West Kelowna Warriors (14-6-3-0) on Wednesday.
They’ll return home to the Kopar Memorial Arena on Friday to host the Cowichan Valley Capitals.
That game will be their annual Drop the Gloves and Sock It To ‘Em game.
Fans are encouraged to bring warm winter clothing, including toques, scarves, gloves, or socks in bags, and throw them on the ice when the Spruce Kings score their first goal.
All donations will be given to St. Vincent de Paul.
