NFL: (Week 17)

The Buffalo Bills announced today (Tuesday) that 24-year-old safety Damar Hamlin spent the night in intensive care and remained in critical condition at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center a day after his heart stopped while making a tackle against the Bengals.

Medical staff restored his heartbeat on the field before he was taken in an ambulance to the hospital.

The NFL has issued a statement that the Bills-Bengals game will not resume this week.

Earlier story:

The Buffalo Bills-Cincinnati Bengals game was postponed in the first quarter after Bills safety Damar Hamlin collapsed on the field.

He was administered CPR and then taken to a Cincinnati hospital on a stretcher where he was listed in critical condition Monday night.

The injury happened after Hamlin tackled Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins and quickly got up afterward.

Hamlin then abruptly collapsed and was given immediate help by athletic trainers.

The Bengals led the game 7-3 at the time.
