Prince George’s annual folk festival is upon us.
The Coldsnap festivities kick off tonight at the Ramada ballroom with Morgan Toney, a Cape Breton fiddler, and West of Mabou, a contemporary band from Saskatchewan.
The nine-day festival will then continue every night from there.
“People in Prince George are going to get a lot from us,” said Katherine Benny, the Folkfest Society’s Communications Manager and Assistant Executive Director.
“We have not only our main stage performances, we have our ice jams and workshops going on during the day… every day there is something to do and some way to enjoy live music.”
The ice jams are free to attend, smaller and more personal shows with the Coldsnap artists, while the artists’ workshops will feature everything from songwriting sessions to behind-the-scenes management.
“For people who are music professionals, but also for people who are vaguely interested in music and want to learn more, I think it is a valuable experience,” Benny said.
