Spruce Kings comeback win earns weekend split with Silverbacks

Hockey fans in Burns Lake got a good taste of the BCHL this weekend, as the Prince George Spruce Kings earned a 4-3 win over the Salmon Arm Silverbacks.

It was the second game of the BCHL’s Road Show at the Tom Forsyth Memorial Arena, which drew 550 fans.

After a scoreless first frame, Ben LeFranc opened the scoring for the Spruce Kings in the second.

The Spruce Kings found themselves in the penalty box five times in the second period, including one four-minute double-minor for high sticking.

However, the penalty kill stood strong, only allowing one powerplay goal from the Silverbacks.

The Silverbacks scored two even-strength goals in the middle frame to take a 3-1 lead into the third.

The Spruce Kings found their mojo in the final frame, with Linden Makow, Jack Stockfish, and Kai Greave scoring to seal the win.
