Whiteout in the forecast for Cougars’ playoff run

Hot off Retro jerseys to end the regular season, the Prince George Cougars are choosing to keep with tradition as they head into the playoffs.

The retro jerseys won’t return, but the postseason whiteout in the CN Centre will.

Everyone who enters the building for game one on Friday will receive a white rally towel, and the team is encouraging fans to wear white to the game.

In a release, the team said the “playoff white out is a treasured part of the hockey history in Prince George. It’s a symbol of unity, pride, and passion. The Prince George Cougars’ playoff white out is a powerful testament to the unbreakable bond between a hockey team and its community.”

The tradition began in 1997, and was solidified when they upset the league-leading Portland Winterhawks in the opening round.

Playoffs begin on Friday and Saturday night, when the Cougars host the Tri-City Americans for games one and two of the best-of-seven series.

The Cougars are entering the post-season 8-0-2-1 in their last 11 games, and 18-3-2-1 since February.

Tickets for the first round are now available, you can find them here.
