Prince George to receive funding to become central BC’s hydrogen hub

The City of Prince George has been approached by the province, who offered funding to help the city become a “hydrogen hub.”

“We will be working with the province, as well as local agencies in town to help start and facilitate the growth of the hydrogen sector in Prince George,” the city’s Manager of Economic Development told city council on Monday’s (March 27) meeting.

The $150,000 in funding from the BC Hydrogen Fund will be used to run a case study report and lay the foundation for more investment moving forward.

Prince George is where the province said they would like to kickstart the program in central BC.

The province’s hydrogen strategy is designed to cut down on emissions and use of fossil fuel as a part of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. You can find the full strategy here.

Council gave the nod to the project moving forward.
