WHL:

The Prince George Cougars returned to practice Tuesday after being given Monday off.

The Cougars visit the Western Conference regular-season champion Seattle Thunderbirds Friday night at 7:05 and Saturday night at 6:05 in Kent, Washington.

The Cougars host Games 3 and 4 of their second-round series on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week, April 18th and 19th.

NHL: (10 Tuesday games with 4 Canadian teams in action)

Vancouver  3  Anaheim  2

The (37-37-7) Canucks conclude their season in Arizona against the (28-40-13) Coyotes Thursday night at 7:00.

Winnipeg  3  Minnesota  1

The victory clinched the final Western Conference playoff spot for the Jets.

Edmonton  2  Colorado  1  (OT)

The Oilers extended their winning streak to eight games.

Toronto  4  Tampa Bay  3

The Florida Panthers clinched an Eastern Conference wildcard spot as a result of the Pittsburgh Penguins 5-2 home-ice loss against the Chicago Blackhawks.

The Penguins are one point behind the New York Islanders for the last wildcard berth with each team having a game left.

Pittsburgh is looking to extend the longest active playoff streak in major North American professional sports to 17 years.

For that to happen, Montreal must beat the New York Islanders in regulation time tonight and Pittsburgh must win on the road Thursday at Columbus.

There are just 3 Wednesday games in the NHL (which is the 3rd last day of the regular season): Montreal at NY Islanders, San Jose at Calgary, and Dallas at St. Louis.

The Islanders can clinch the final Eastern Conference playoff spot with a victory or an overtime loss against the Canadiens.

Women’s World Hockey Championship: (in Brampton, Ontario)

The quarterfinals begin Thursday.

Canada won all four of its games in Group A after Monday’s 4-3 shootout victory over the USA.

Toronto Blue Jays  9  Detroit Tigers  3

The (7-4) host the (2-8) Tigers again tonight (4:07 PT) and Thursday.

This weekend Toronto will entertain Tampa.

The Rays are off to a perfect 11-0 start.

The Lakers advance to the Western Conference quarterfinals against the #2 Memphis Grizzlies.

The Timberwolves on Friday will host the winner of the elimination game tonight between Oklahoma City and New Orleans.

The Hawks advance to the Eastern Conference quarterfinals against the #2 Boston Celtics.

The #9 Toronto Raptors host the 10th-place Chicago Bulls tonight (4:00 PT) in an elimination game.

The winner will play the Heat Friday in Miami to see who will advance to the Conference quarterfinals.
