Local State of Emergency over in Wells

There is no longer a state of local emergency in Wells.

Mayor Ed Coleman says it ended after the seven days.

“If you feel you need it extended for special powers you can ask the Minister for an extension. We didn’t need that but we’re keeping our emergency operation centre open for another two weeks until we can finish patching up the road out to Sugar Creek area.”

Coleman says the family is now able to get out.

“It’s just passable so we can get the family in and out but it will take 3 more days to make it fully passable.”

A state of emergency was called after a washout on Sugar Creek Road left one family isolated.
