A ‘wanted’ senior citizen led the Prince George RCMP on a chase through the Blackwater Road area yesterday.
After searching for him since the end of June, police found 73 year old Erwin Engel driving on Minchin Road, off Blackwater Road southwest of PG.
Engel was wanted for breaching a conditional sentence order. RCMP also say he has a history of violence towards police, including the use of weapons.
When police attempted to pull over the vehicle he was driving, the senior fled at high speeds. Police did not pursue.
He later ditched his car and fled on foot into a wooded area off Blackwater Road.
A K-9 unit and additional officers were called in. Police dog ‘Baron’ tracked Engel to his hiding spot about 800 metres from his car where he was taken into custody.
