Major League Baseball:

First baseman Jared Young of Prince George went 0-for-1 as a pinch hitter for the Chicago Cubs in an 11-5 loss Sunday to the Boston Red Sox.

The 28-year-old Young is batting .176 (6-for-34) in 12 games in a Chicago uniform with one homer and five RBIs.

The (43-49) Cubs host the (37-56) Washington Nationals tonight (Monday 5:05 PT).

 

Toronto Blue Jays  7  Arizona Diamondbacks  5

The (53-41) Blue Jays swept the 3-game weekend series against the Diamondbacks.

Toronto will host the (44-50) San Diego Padres Tuesday (4:07 PM PT) to start a 3-game series.

Tennis:

Carlos Alcaraz showed why he is the #1 ranked tennis player in the world.

The 20-year-old from Spain won his second Grand Slam title, defeating seven-time Wimbledon champ Novak Djokovic in five sets in the men’s Wimbledon Final.

Alcaraz took the 5th set 6-4.

On Saturday, Marketa Vondrousova of the Czech Republic upset #6 Ons Jabeur 6-4, 6-4 in the women’s final at Wimbledon.

Ottawa  31  Winnipeg  28  (OT)

Week 7 of the CFL season starts Thursday with (0-6) Edmonton at (4-2) Winnipeg (5:30 PT).

The (4-1) BC Lions host (3-2) Saskatchewan Saturday at 4:00.

Prince George Senior Lacrosse:

Game 4 in the PG Senior Lacrosse final will be played tonight (Monday) at 8:00 at Kin 1.

The BHL Bandits lead the Scamp Transport Devils 2-1 in the best-of-5 championship series.
