Golf:
Mike Legg of Prince George placed second at the BC Senior Men’s Golf Championship in Williams Lake.
Legg closed with a 75 to finish the 54-hole tournament at 3-over-216, four strokes back of the winner Andrew Pinette of Surrey, who was 1-under-212.
Will Gilbert of PG tied for 20th (at 11-over-224)
Dave Lauzon of 150 Mile House led the 10 Cariboo golfers with a 33rd-place finish (at 14-over-227).
A total of 155 golfers competed.

PG Football:
The Prince George Kodiaks junior football team starts its 10-game BCFC regular season this weekend.
The Kodiaks open Saturday night at 7:00 when they host the defending Canadian Bowl champions, the Okanagan Sun at Masich Place Stadium.
CFL:
Week 8 of the CFL season begins tonight (Friday 4:30 PT) with (2-4) Hamilton at (3-3) Ottawa (4:30 PT).
The (5-1) BC Lions visit the (0-7) Edmonton Elks Saturday (4:00 PT).
The Lions lead the West while the Elks have lost a record 20 consecutive home games, dating back to 2019.

Major League Baseball:
The (57-46) Toronto Jays begin a 7-game homestand tonight (Friday 4:07 PT) against the (54-49) LA Angels.

Infielder Jared Young of P.G. is back this week with the Triple-A Iowa Cubs after a brief stint with the Chicago Cubs.
The 28-year-old Young batted .171 (6-for-35) in 13 big-league games for Chicago this season with one homer and five RBIs.

Softball:
The Softball BC Provincial Championships for Boys Under-13 to U-20 will be held today (Friday) to Sunday at the Carrie Jane Grey Park fields and Freeman Park in Prince George.
There are 16 teams in total that are entered: (six each in U-13 and U-15 and four in U-17-20)
Soccer: FIFA Women’s World Cup
Canada plays its final round-robin game in Group B Monday (3 AM PT) against Australia.
Canada has a win and a tie after two games while Australia is 1-1 in the 32-team tournament.
