Updated: BC Wildfire Service reverses decision on rescinding campfire ban

Updated 6:00 p.m., Sunday, July 30th:

Upon further review, the BC Wildfire Service has determined the complete open-burning prohibition will remain in effect in the Prince George Fire Centre.

This includes category 1 fires or campfires.

Category 1, 2 and 3 open burning prohibitions will remain in place until October 15th or until it is rescinded.

Original Story:

Effective at noon tomorrow (Monday) campfires will be permitted in the Prince George Fire Centre.

The campfire prohibition was originally issued on June 8th.

Category 2 and 3 open burning prohibitions remain in place throughout the Prince George Fire Centre.

Fireworks, sky lanterns burn barrels and cages, binary exploding targets, and air curtain burners remain prohibited as well.

BC residents are encouraged to check the Province’s fire centre bans and restrictions web page for the most current prohibitions in their area.
