Prince George Cougars  3  Edmonton Oil Kings  2   (Sunday)

Carlin Dezainde snapped a 2-2 tie by scoring a shorthanded goal with 4:42 left in the third period.

Edmonton Oil Kings  4  Prince George Cougars  3  (Friday)

The Cougars, who went 2-2 in four exhibition games, start their regular season with a home doubleheader against the Tri-City Americans on Friday and Saturday.

BCHL (Pre-season games in Trail)

The Spruce Kings finished 3-2 in the pre-season and will start their regular season on the road Saturday (6 PM on Sept 23) against the Silverbacks in Salmon Arm.

Their home opener will be played Sept 29th against Chilliwack.

Canada West Soccer:

(Men)

Calgary Dinos  2  UNBC Timberwolves  1  (Sunday)

Michael Henman scored the Timberwolves goal, his fourth in the last three games.

The (1-5-1) UNBC men host the (4-0-1) Alberta Golden Bears Friday at noon and the (2-2-3) Lethbridge Pronghorns Sunday at noon at Masich Place Stadium.

BC Football Conference (BCFC)

(At Masich Place Stadium in PG)

Langley Rams  39  Prince George Kodiaks  17  (Saturday)

The Rams swept the home and home against P.G. as they blitzed the Kodiaks 62-0 on September 9th in Langley.

The (2-4) Kodiaks, with four games left in their 2nd season, visit the (4-2) Valley Huskers Saturday afternoon in Chilliwack.

NFL: (Week 2)

Miami Dolphins  24  New England Patriots  17 (Sunday night game)

The Dolphins are one of eight teams at 2-0 along with Baltimore, Dallas, Philadelphia, Washington, San Francisco, Tampa Bay and Atlanta.

The Patriots are one of eight teams at 0-2 along with Cincinnati, Houston, LA Chargers, Denver, Minnesota, Chicago and Arizona.

There are a pair of Monday night games to conclude Week 2: New Orleans at Carolina (4:15 PT) and Cleveland at Pittsburgh (5:15).

CFL: (Week 15)

The B.C. Lions concluded Week 15 of the CFL season with a dramatic come-from-behind 41-37 victory over the Ottawa RedBlacks on Saturday.

B.C. scored 23 unanswered points in the 4th quarter to erase a 37-18 deficit.

The (9-4) Lions visit the (4-10) Edmonton Elks Friday night (6:30 PT).

The Lions are 2nd in the West Division, two points behind the (10-4) Winnipeg Blue Bombers with a game in hand.

The Blue Bombers are idle this week.

Major League Baseball:

Toronto Blue Jays  3  Boston Red Sox  2

The (83-67) Blue Jays swept the three-game series against the Red Sox to move into the second wild-card spot in the American League, half a game ahead of the (82-67) Texas Rangers and 1 1/2 games in front of the (81-68) Seattle Mariners.

Toronto has a dozen games left, six on the road this week (against the Yankees and Tampa) and six at home next week (against the Yankees and Tampa).

The Jays visit the (76-74) New York Yankees on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (4:05 PM PT each night).

The Rangers host (74-76) Boston tonight (Monday 5:05 PT) while the Mariners visit the (46-103) Oakland A’s this evening (6:40 PT).

NHL:

Mike Babcock has resigned as head coach of the Columbus Blue Jackets.

He has been replaced by associate coach Pascal Vincent.

Babcock’s decision came before he even coached a single game for the team.

His resignation follows recent allegations that he violated players’ privacy when he asked to see photos on their cellphones.
