City welcoming engagement on Official Community Plan review

The City of Prince George’s Official Community Plan (OCP) review is officially underway.

The new OCP will guide growth and development in Prince George until 2050.

After it’s adopted, bylaws enacted or works undertaken by Council must be consistent with the OCP.

The OCP is a tool used to help make decisions related to:

  • Housing locations
  • Transportation priorities
  • Lands protected from development
  • Protecting development from hazards
  • Providing services for more sustainable development in the next 15 years.

Residents will have an opportunity to give their input on how the OCP should be shaped. The City will be hosting a Community Open House for in-person engagement on October 17th, at the Two Rivers Gallery from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30.

Additionally, there’s an online survey will be open until October 20th.

“I know this has been something a lot of people have been waiting for in regard to having their say and that is a great thing,” said Mayor Simon Yu.

“Engagement is always important. but for this plan, and the importance it plays in the growth and development of our City, it was never been more important.”

Drafting of the OCP will start in December and continue into August 2024.

Final OCP review and approval is expected by the end of 2024.
