UNBC WSOC sign Vernon winger to aid in rebuild

The infusion of youth into the UNBC Timberwolves women’s soccer team took another step.

The varsity club announced the addition of impact winger Aimee Glasser to the program for the 2024 Canada West season, and beyond.

“It has been my childhood dream. I know that sounds cliché, but it has always been something I have thought of and I have always worked towards it. I really enjoy watching that level of soccer, so to play that level of soccer is really exciting. It’s crazy that it’s happening.

Hearing about that, altogether with soccer, and picturing that and preparing myself.”

The Vernon product plays her club soccer for coach Kai Tolpinrud and Thompson Okanagan FC; the same pipeline that trained current TWolves Kambria Mellum, Kate Rattee, Maleah Fernie, and Fia Cameron.

She doesn’t turn 17-years-old until December, so the talented winger has plenty of growth and skill development ahead of her. She knows there will be an adjustment period making the leap to the highest level of university soccer in the country, but is excited to take on the challenge and show her stuff for the TWolves.

“I am pretty fast and I am quick on the sidelines. People will send balls down and I am almost always there. I am pretty good at reading the play, as well. Knowing when to move out, knowing when to step in and intercept a ball,” added Glasser.

Glasser will graduate from W.L Seaton Secondary in June, and enroll in UNBC’s nursing program. She will join her new teammates for training camp in July.

“Soccer comes naturally, so I don’t need to think too too much, so it really is enjoyable for me. I feel like I am going to be really nervous, but also so excited. The adrenaline will be running. Super. Pumped up. Super ready.”
