United Way Day of Caring will see Cedars Christian Students clean up garden at Hart Pioneer Centre

The United Way of Northern BC along with a team of student volunteers from Cedars Christian School to help the Hart Pioneer Centre with the clean-up and preparation of facility gardens.

“At Cedars Christian School, one of our core values is “Service.” we prioritize having our students engage in service work within our community multiple times a year,” said Dave Rowland, Director of Community Engagement at Cedars Christian School.

“We believe that our community thrives when we come together to support one another.”

Due to the help of volunteers from Cedars Christian School, the United Way was able to help make possible the garden clean-up for the Centre which serves predominantly seniors and supports community initiatives.

“We are thrilled to have a team of student volunteers from Cedars Christian School for their time and effort to prepare and to clean up the south side garden at the Centre,” Hart Pioneer Centre President Lorraine Prouse said.

“Prior to COVID, the gardens had a street-appealing sight with with the many garden volunteers from the Centre. Since COVID, the enthusiasm and help has diminished, and weeds have slowly taken over.”

United Way Days of Caring are opportunities for businesses to work with non-profits to complete projects that enhance the community.
