Carrier Sekani searching for Indigenous filmmakers for upcoming project

Local Indigenous film talents are being sought out by Carrier Sekani Family Services (CSFS) and the producers of two Netflix documentaries (Highway of Tears and For Love) for a new series of vignettes on Indigenous women across Canada.

In a release, CSFS said directors, filmmakers, cinematographers, sound editors, and editors are wanted to help work on the series, titled We are Hope, We are Strength.

They said the series will “highlight notions of Hope and Strength that exist in Indigenous Communities and in particular within Indigenous women,” and will “[capture] generational messages of hope and strength amongst Indigenous women in this space and beyond.”

Interested applicants are being asked to send proposals to [email protected] by November 3rd.

The project is set to be released on YouTube and social media in the spring.

Funding for the project was secured by CSFS through Women and Gender Equality.
