Rally lining Ospika calls for ceasefire in Gaza

A sizable group of protestors have gathered on Ospika Boulevard outside the CN Centre today to rally in support of Palestinians who have been killed or injured in the war with Israel, and call for a ceasefire.

“[We are] a group of people all united under one message, regardless of background or religious beliefs – we want to see the killing of innocent Palestinians over in Gaza stopped as soon as possible,” Mohamed Shubair, the rally organizer, told My PG Now this afternoon (Saturday).

At around 2:20 there were roughly 130 people gathered to show their support, with more arriving regularly. The rally started at 2:00

“There are probably less than 10 Palestinians living in Prince George,” Shubair said. “To see a turnout like this when 99% of these people are not Palestinian is absolutely heartwarming… thank you for your support Prince George.”

According to the Associated Press, 7,326 Palestinians have been killed in the conflict, nearly 19,000 more have been injured, and 1.4 million have been displaced.

As of Wednesday (October 25), Global Affairs Canada confirmed seven Canadians have died in the battle between Israel and Hamas.
