There are three weeks left in the Prince George Child Development Centre’s (CDC) Cash for Kids 50/50 fundraiser raffle.
According to the CDC, money raised will help buy “critical specialized equipment to help us more effectively support the community’s children.”
5,000 tickets are for sale at $20 each, meaning the November 30th grand prize jackpot draw could be worth $100,000.
However, with under a month to go, the current jackpot is sitting at just $3,500, which means only 175 tickets have sold so far.
Jennifer Robinson, a CDC employee, said she hopes to see an uptick in sales as the deadline gets closer.
“We are going to be at Save On in Pine Centre on November 12th, 18th, and 19th,” she said. “We will also be attending some Prince George Cougars games on November 10th, 14th, and 24th.”
“We provide support to approximately 1000 children per year,” Darrell Roze, the CDC’s Executive Director told Vista Radio in an interview.
He said that is one in every six preschool kids in the Prince George area.
“These children have a ton of different types of delays,” he explaiend, including speaking, motor skills, and social or emotional issues or delays.
“A lot of what we are doing is preparing children for better success in the school system when they enter kindergarten and beyond,” Roze said.
“There is a massive amount of equipment we use to support children,” he said. “When you look at a child who has motor issues, they may need to learn how to use a wheelchair. We provide some of that early work from eight months of age, which is shockingly young, but providing them with that increased mobility… that provides a huge benefit to that child.”
Tickets are on sale online only, you can find them here.
The grand prize will be drawn on November 30th at 12:30.
