A deal fit for a King: Cougars Koehn Ziemmer signs on the dotted line with Los Angeles

The LA Kings have signed Prince George Cougars sniper forward Koehn Ziemmer to a three-year, entry-level contract.

It’s worth an average annual value of $875,000.

Ziemmer was the second Kings player chosen in the 2023 NHL Draft (third round, 78th overall).

“It’s a pretty surreal feeling,” Ziemmer said after signing his contract.

“You play hockey your whole life dreaming of playing in the NHL one day, and this is one step closer for me. To sign on
the dotted line is pretty cool.”

The 19-year-old has recorded seven goals and 17 assists for 24 points with a plus-3 rating.

Last season, Ziemmer registered 89 points (41-48=89) in 68 games, marking his second consecutive 30-plus goal season (30G in 2021-22). His 41 goals ranked second on the Cougars and seventh among all WHL skaters.

“I was actually with my dad in the hunting section at Canadian Tire when I found out, so it was very pretty exciting to go through that with him as well,” added Ziemmer.

In 176 career WHL games, the Mayerthorpe, Alberta product has tallied 182 points.

Ziemmer and the Cougars are on the road tonight and Saturday taking on the Vancouver Giants and Kelowna Rockets.
