The winner of the Prince George Child Development Centre Cash For Kids 50/50 draw has been named.
The raffle brought in $17,920, meaning the CDC and the winner, Dave Yarmish, each got $8,960.
“This is very close to what we were hoping to sell,” said Darrell Roze, the CDC’s Executive Director, adding the goal was to bring in $20,000.
“We are hoping for bigger and better things in years to come, but we are very happy with the response from folks in Prince George on this one,” he said.
Roze said the money will go towards purchasing equipment for the children they support, something he said the CDC relies heavily on the community for.
“Our purpose for being is to support children with developmental challenges, and often that equipment is quite expensive,” he explained.
Just because the raffle is over does not mean the CDC is not taking donations.
Roze directed anyone interested in giving to the CDC website, or asked them to come to the office on Strathcona Avenue in person.
Roze also teased a future fundraiser, where the CDC hopes to send draw winners to Disneyworld.
