Cariboo Rocks the North on “indefinite hiatus,” will not return for 2024

One of Prince George’s biggest summer events will be absent in 2024.

In a video and message posted to Facebook, Cariboo Rocks the North has announced the annual Classic Rock music festival will not be returning to Exhibition Park in 2024.

The festival has been held annually since 2018 (with a brief pandemic break) and has seen thousands of people attend from Western Canada and beyond.

“It has been something we have been proud of as a company,” Kyle Sampson, a Pacific Western Brewing Spokesperson, told My PG Now. “We understand the festival organizers’ decision not to continue, and we look forward to the next opportunity to get out there and be part of the community.”

The Facebook post said the event “is now on an indefinite hiatus,” Sampson said if or when something does return it “might not look the same,” and there is “nothing particular in the works yet.”

Some notable acts that came to Prince George for Cariboo Rocks the North include: Tom Cochrane, Red Rider, Nazareth, April Wine, Sweet, Kim Mitchell, Honeymoon Suite, 54-40, Trooper, and many more.
