WHL: 

Portland Winterhawks  2  Prince George Cougars  1

It was a goaltending duel between Ty Young and Nick Avakyan, with the latter coming out on top.

Young made 26 saves while Avakyan made 34.

Ondrej Becher scored the lone goal for the Cougars.

The Cougars (30-13-0-1) remain on top of the WHL’s Western Conference standings.

The Cougars will be back in action on Friday, starting a five-game roadtrip with a matchup against the Spokane Chiefs.

BCHL:

Five teams from the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) will be joining the BCHL next season.

Those include the Blackfalds Bulldogs, Okotoks Oilers, Sherwood Park Crusaders, Spruce Grove Saints, and the defending Centennial Cup Champions from the last three full seasons, the Brooks Bandits.

*The Centennial Cup tournament was cancelled in 2020 and 2021.

The Bandits beat the Spruce Kings in the final of the National Junior A Championship.

The BCHL is on their Allstar break this weekend.
