Ryder Green is ready to live out a childhood dream.
The 16-year-old starting netminder for the Cariboo Cougars signed with the BCHL’s Prince George Spruce Kings for the 2024/25 season.
Green, is having a stellar season with the U18AAA Cougars posting a record of 13-2-2 with a 2.74 GAA.
“Ryder is an elite-level goaltender and an elite-level human. Adding in the fact that Ryder and his family are proud northern BC residents from Prince George makes this commitment a no-brainer for us,” said General Manager Mike Hawes.
“We are thrilled to add Ryder and his family to the Spruce Kings family.”
In addition to playing with the Cariboo Cougars, Green suited up for Team British Columbia during the 2023 Canada Winter Games in Prince Edward Island. In three games, the Prince George product had a .915 save percentage.
“I am very grateful for this opportunity,” said Green. “I remember watching Spruce Kings games growing up with my parents, so this is very special for me and my family.”
