Prince George just broke January’s all-time high temperature record, so the prediction may seem a little obvious, but groundhogs around North America are predicting an early spring.

This totally real groundhog in Prince George had its opinion backed up by some of the greats, Pennsylvania’s Punxsatawney Phil, Nova Scotia’s Shubenacadie Sam, and Ontario’s Wiarton Willie also did not see their shadows, signaling an early end to winter.

Today (Friday) is forecast to hit a high of 8 degrees, but overnight lows are expected to fall to -16 by early next week.
