Timberwolves MSOC sign local product Xavier Rocha to roster

Character. Work ethic. Leadership. And a whole lot of soccer skills.

Today (Monday), the UNBC Timberwolves men’s soccer team added Prince George product Xavier Rocha for the 2024 Canada West season and beyond.

“It feels great. I have been training with them for the past two years, and it has really been a goal of mine. The guys have been incredibly welcoming, so it is great to play with these guys and I am really proud of myself. I am really happy for the future.”

Rocha is familiar to the Timberwolves program attending games at Masich Place, and points to recent training sessions with the varsity roster as a major factor in his decision to play his university soccer at UNBC.

“The environment is great. They have a really good team and a really young team. I look up to a lot of the players of this team. I love the way they play, so I am delighted to be here.”

Head coach Steve Simonson identified Rocha several years ago and was impressed by his newest recruit’s approach to the game. The midfielder’s level seems to improve by the week, and he has quickly endeared himself to his future teammates in green and gold.

The UNBC bench boss had high praise for the Duchess Park Secondary student, and is ready to get to work with him ahead of the 2024 Canada West campaign.

“I have had the privilege of watching Xavier develop over the past few years in the local soccer scene and I am truly excited to see his potential come to light in his time at UNBC. He is one of the most committed and focused players I have ever had the chance to work with. His dedication is matched by a friendly and outgoing personality, and I know he will be a tremendous addition to this program.”

Rocha will graduate from DPSS in June and join his T-Wolves teammates for training camp in July.
