Silverbacks ride Lambert’s second hat-trick in two weeks to defeat Spruce Kings

Isaac Lambert loves playing against the Prince George Spruce Kings.

The 19-year-old forward from Victoriaville, Quebec notched his second-hat trick in two weeks against the Interior Conference foe on Friday, leading the Salmon Arm Silverbacks to a 5-2 victory in front of 1,560 fans at the Shaw Centre.

Both teams found themselves on even terms after the opening 20 minutes as Lambert, along with a power-play goal by PG’s Owen Goodbrand, lit the lamp.

Lambert notched his second of the contest on the man-advantage accepting a JJ Montiero feed that beat Spruce Kings netminder Charlie Zolin.

Once again, the roofed caved in on PG at the most inopportune time, allowing three straight Salmon Arm goals to begin the third period.

Lambert completed the hat-trick a mere eight seconds into the frame while Nathan Mackie and Nathaniel Davis added singles.

Luca Primarano earned his sixth of the BCHL season for the Spruce Kings in the dying seconds to make the final score more respectable for the visitors.

The Silverbacks outshot PG 39-27 and scored on their lone power-play of the game. PG went 2-for-4.

Eli Pulver made 25 saves in the victory for Salmon Arm (25-12-0-2) while Charlie Zolin took the loss in net for the Spruce Kings who drop to 13-22-3-0, last in the Interior, three points back of the Merritt Centennials.

Six of Lambert’s last seven goals have come against the Spruce Kings – his first hat trick came on January 26th in a 5-3 win from the Kopar Memorial Arena.

PG continues its two-game road swing tonight in Penticton against the Vees (27-7-2-2).
