Hiller finishes 20th in tight 500m field at ISU World Championships

Carolina Hiller’s Friday at the International Skating Union World Championships in Calgary was not as successful as Thursday.

The PG Blizzard alum finished 20th in the Women’s 500m with a time of a time of 38.30

Hiller’s time was 1.47 seconds behind the first-place finisher, Femke Kok of the Netherlands.

On Thursday, Hiller and teammates Maddison Pearman and Ivanie Blondin won gold while setting a Canadian Speedskating record in the Team Sprint with a time of 1:25.14.

Allison Desmarais of Vanderhoof competed in the Women’s 1000m event yesterday (Saturday),  finishing 23rd with a time of 1:17.84.

Desmarais time, was 5.01 seconds behind the first-place finisher, Miho Takagi of Japan, at 1:12.83

City providing funding support for Nordic Olympic Qualifiers

PG Mounties looking for man wanted for theft

The Prince George RCMP are on the lookout for 41-year-old Christopher Ronald Erickson.  According to police, he is wanted on two unendorsed warrants for theft under $5,000, and failing to comply with order.

Federal grant funding gives several PG sports facilities a face lift

It’s from annual funding via the Canada Community-Building Fund where an additional $760,000 is being made available for this work with a total project budget of $950,000. In 2024, the parks and solid waste division funded $760,000 through the CCBF to upgrade facilities and encourage continued outdoor recreation. The total project budget was $950,000 and included:
