Popsicle stick bridge building competition coming to Pine Centre Mall

Engineers of all ages are being invited to the Pine Centre Mall to take part in Engineers and Geoscientists BC – Central Interior Branch’s annual popsicle stick bridge-building competition next weekend.

The event runs on Saturday (April 13) and is open to anyone in grade one or above.

The rules are simple: competitors can only use 100 popsicle sticks and regular white school glue to build their own bridges at home.

Then, on Saturday, the bridges will be stress-tested until failure by a special machine that can measure the load the bridge is carrying.

The three strongest bridges in each age category win prizes.
