SD57 facing $2 million budget shortfall

School District 57’s board of trustees is entering budget season.

The district is projected to receive $199 million in revenue in 2024/25, the hefty majority of which is coming from the provincial government.

Like last year, the board is facing a shortfall of around $2 million and is considering cuts.

The board is looking for feedback on where cuts should be made through a variety of ways, including:

  • A Survey on the district website – open from April 18 to May 3, 2024
  • Livestream meeting – April 23, 2024 – 7:00 pm
    (A recording of the meeting will be posted on the school district’s website)

The Prince George RCMP are looking to identify suspects in an investigation into repeated vandalism at a residence on the 100-block of McQueen Crescent. According to police, the initial investigation began in late May, when unidentified suspects threw a rock through the front window of the home, and spray painted the front with orange spray paint.
