The Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation is forecasting housing starts will rise in Prince George.
Regional Economist Carol Frketich predicts 200 housing starts this year rising to 230 next year as compared to 195 last year.
Frketich says low mortgage rates have also helped.
She says the average single detached house price the first quarter of this year was about $269,000, an increase of about 11.5 percent over last year.
