New mobile stage unveiled in Prince George

Prince George is now the home of a SL100 Mobile Stage.

Russell Audio Visual welcomed the impressive piece of entertainment technology with a small demonstration and kick-off event at their Third Avenue office yesterday (Friday).

The 40’ x 28’ (12 m x 8 m) stage transforms from a truck trailer into the full platform and overhead in under an hour with just two technicians required.

The stage is the only one of its kind west of Edmonton and north of Kelowna.

“It is a real life transformer,” Jon Russell, the Manager of Russell AV, told My PG Now.

He said the stage will see lots of use in and around northern BC, and demand is already high.

“Producers that have talked about doing outdoor shows that have struggled to get a stage here… it has always been an obstruction for events,” Russell said. “A lot of people [have been calling].”

Aside from yesterday’s welcome party, Russell said the stage will first see use at the upcoming Crossroads Streetfest.

“We need to support live events. It allows us to make investment. The more people go out, the more investment that will be made to make our shows better.”

Stageline, the Quebec-based manufacturer of the stage, recommends it be used for events pulling outdoor crowds of 5,000 or fewer.
