“Most people are concerned about how they will feed their kids instead of who crossed to what party.”
That’s from Prince George-Valemount MLA Shirley Bond who is sticking with the BC United Party despite the recent departures of elected representatives Elenore Sturko and Lorne Doerkson who crossed the floor to join the Conservatives.
Bond told Vista Radio they were left in the dark on her former member’s true intentions.
“The two people that left our party made it very clear they had been in those discussions for quite some time. That from my perspective is very telling, we certainly we not aware of those discussions that those two MLA’s were having behind the scenes and they didn’t have those discussions with us.”
When asked if Bond is tempted to jump ship and join former Liberal MLA and Nechako Lakes rep John Rustad – she stated crossing the floor at this point in her career is not within her best interests.
“I believe British Columbians are going to want people who are going to work for them and focus on the issues that matter to them and frankly at the moment, most people are more concerned about how their are going to feed their kids or fill their gas tanks than how crossed to what party.”
Despite having just a 12% approval rating in the polls, Bond also remains confident in party leader Kevin Falcon to get the job done this fall.
In addition, Brandon Fonseca, who was set to run for BC United in the Coquitlam-Maillardville riding, stated on social media yesterday (Tuesday) he was resigning as a candidate for the party.
2 However, it is clear from Kevin Falcon’s botched merger attempt that he does not have BC’s grass roots movement at heart. British Columbians have made it evident over the last couple of months that they want a common sense conservative government lead by John Rustad.
