UPDATE: Prince George thunderstorm watch ended

Update 6:00 pm:

Environment Canada has ended the thunderstorm watch for Prince George.

Update: 3:30 pm:

Environment Canada has upgraded the watch to a warning.

The storm is tracking northeast from the Quesnel area and is expected to hit Prince George “within the next hour or two.”

Original story: 1:00 pm:

Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Prince George.

If lightning does start, they recommend people take shelter indoors.

A severe thunderstorm watch is issued when a thunderstorm that can produce large hail, damaging winds, or a torrential downpour forms.
