GoFundMe set up for man stabbed in the back at Fort St. John work camp

A GoFundMe page has been set up for a Prince George man who was stabbed while at a work camp in Fort St. John.

“On August 24th, 2024, Leo was stabbed in the back with a steak knife as he was eating breakfast in the breakroom of a work camp in Fort St. John, BC,” the GoFundMe page reads.

“He immediately felt his legs give out and slid off the sitting bench. We was not able to feel his legs.”

Leo was taken to hospital in Fort St. John hospital, where it was determined the knife was lodged in his spinal cord.

He was then taken to the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton, where he was in surgery for more than 14 hours to remove the knife.

According to the page, he regained some mobility in right leg, but he did not regain any feeling in the left leg.

Leo will be transported to the Rick Hansen Spinal Cord Rehabilitation Centre in Vancouver for his recovery.

The GoFundMe was set up to help the family aid in his recovery, and pay for travel, a place to stay, and food while they’re away from home.

As of this morning (Sunday), the GoFundMe has raised $4,620.
