A house has been damaged after an early evening fire yesterday.
Around 5:30 pm, the PG Fire Rescue Service was called to a home in the 1400 block of Blackburn road.
On arrival, crews found heavy thick black smoke coming from the structure, with flames rising around the roof line at the back of the house.
Because of the amount of flame and smoke involved, firefighters were held to an exterior attack of the blaze.
The occupant of the home was outside by the time officials got there, and wasn’t hurt.
After 2.5 hours of fighting the fire, damage was assessed at around $300,000.
The effort required 15 firefighters from 3 different halls.
The fire was caused by stovetop cooking.
