The Lheidli T’enneh along with the rest of the Prince George community is in mourning following the passing of elders Edie Frederick and Josie Paul.
According to a Facebook post from the Exploration Place, both were instrumental in language revitalization.
Edie was also key in the opening of a Place of Learning collection and gallery in 2017 showcasing the way of life and rich history of the Lheidli T’enneh.
On Monday, the host First Nation’s office was closed to mourn the loss of Frederick.
In addition, a Community Grief Support Night is being held at the House of Ancestors this evening from 5 to 8pm and will only be open to Lheidli members only.
