Major Crimes Unit investigating suspicious death in Mackenzie; charges laid

A charge of second-degree murder has been approved for a Mackenzie man in relation to a suspicious death in that community.

During the early morning hours on Sunday, the RCMP responded to a shots fired call at a residence on the 100 block of Centennial Drive.

Officers attended the scene and located a deceased man inside.

The North District Major Crimes Unit has taken conduct of the investigation and is working closely in partnership with the RCMP and the BC Coroners Service.

A warrant has been issued for Drake Matthew Kerr.

The public can expect to see an increased police presence in the area for the next several days while the investigation continues.

The death appears to be an isolated incident and investigators do not believe there is any potential danger to the public.
