Engage Sport North celebrating 30 years supporting youth education and training

Engage Sport North (ESN) has supported athletes in the BC North for 30 years and counting.

The organization supports sport by providing high-performance sport education and training, which has helped local Olympians begin their careers.

Interim Executive Director, Sarah Saunders says they also support youth sport engagement.

“Right from physical literacy first engagement with sport, we run programs for toddlers up through grade school aged children and beyond, hopefully helping children develop physical literacy skills.”

ESN also works with the City of Prince George and community associations to help sport accessibility.

One way they do that is by having their staff that are trained in long term development at a grassroots and accessible level.

Saunders added sports have seen various changes in the 30 years ESN has been around, especially in sport science, and hopes that turns into more success for their northern athletes.

ESN, along with Sport BC and Tourism Prince George also hosted the Sport Hero Awards for 11 volunteers in the community.
