Maro’s hat-trick sinks Spruce Kings in Powell River

A three-goal second period from the Powell River Kings sunk the Prince George Spruce Kings in a 5-2 loss.

Two of Powell River’s goals in the middle frame came on the powerplay.

The Spruce Kings had five opportunities with the man advantage, but failed to score a powerplay goal.

Lucas Veilleux and Mason Loewen scored for Prince George in the game.

Tre Peck and Axel Lofgren scored once each for Powell River, while Christian Maro completed his hat-trick with an empty netter to send home the 637 fans at Hap Parker Arena home happy.

Carter Wishart got the start between the pipes for Prince George, making 16 saves on 20 shots.

The Spruce Kings outshot Powell River 36-21.
