Prince George Legion ready for Remembrance Day Ceremony

Soldiers who fought for our freedom will be front and center in Prince George and communities across Canada for Remembrance Day.

On Monday, The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 43 will have their indoor ceremony at the Civic Centre at 9:00 am, and go to 10:15.

Branch President, Eric Callaghan says a parade will form shortly after.

“At approximately 10:30, the parade will form up and march from the Civic Centre, over to the Cenotaph, and we’ll have our [outdoor] ceremony and that done.”

After the outdoor ceremony, the parade will reform and return to the Civic Centre.

Callaghan says a lot of work has gone into the Remembrance Day ceremony, with planning beginning in January.

This year, the Legion hopes to match the attendance from two years ago, where the Civic Centre was full.

The Legion will be open after the ceremony and parade has wrapped up, and have refreshments and food, along with a dinner at around 4:00 for $15 a person.

Today (November 8th), is National Indigenous Veterans Day, recognizing the services of First Nations, Inuit, and Metis.
