100 Mile House RCMP respond to fatal accident

Emergency crews in 100 Mile House were called to the scene of a single vehicle accident on Canim Hendrix Lake Road near Geraldine Road on Friday. (November 29)

RCMP Sergeant Brian Lamb says the call came in at 4:50 p.m.

“A black four door sedan went off the road striking a tree. The vehicle had severe damage and two occupants were quickly attended to by rescue personnel. Lifesaving efforts were conducted on a 46-year old female passenger but she was declared deceased.”

Lamb says the female driver was taken to hospital with undetermined injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

Traffic through the area was re-routed while the investigation was conducted.

Lamb says “alcohol is suspected as a contributing factor in this incident and police are continuing the investigation.”

He says they are asking anyone who may have witnessed the accident, or has dash cam footage leading up to the incident or any other information that would assist in the investigation. to please call the detachment at (250) 395-2456.

The Ambulance Paramedics Association of BC (APBC) says the mental health crisis continues it’s having a lasting impact on the service’s members.  According to the union, approximately 30 per cent of their members (including paramedics and dispatchers) are either off work battling mental health or are still continuing to work while receiving treatment.
