Winner drawn for sold out Hospice Dream Home Lottery

Jessie Calliou of Prince George will have a very merry Christmas.

Calliou is the winner of the Prince George Hospice Palliative Care Society’s Dream Home Lottery.

Likely due to shock, Calliou had a bit of a subdued reaction to finding out he had won the home, simply saying “this is great news, great to hear.”

This year’s home, located on Foxridge Avenue, is worth $940,000.

Hospice Finance Director Anika Lachapelle said it feels great to give away the home after a sold-out lottery.

“Selling out really means that we can focus a little bit less on fundraising and we can really focus on how we can provide care to our guests, and make sure that it’s really just a special, unique, wonderful, comforting experience for our guests, their families, their friends, so anybody who comes in,” Lachapelle said.

The Dream Home Lottery is Hospice’s biggest fundraiser of the year, and helps fund the Home Hospice Program.

There’s still prizes to be won, as the second 50/50 draw will take place on January 31st.
