Caledonia Nordic Ski Club set to host Biathlon Canada Youth/Junior World Championship Trials

The Caledonia Nordic Ski Club is gearing up to host another international competition in the new year.

The club will be hosting the 2025 International Biathlon Union (IBU) Regional Event, and the Biathlon Canada Youth/Junior World Championship Trials from January 3rd to 7th.

The event will welcome Canada’s top biathletes ages 15 and up as they compete for a spot on the national team for the IBU Youth and Junior World Championships, which are set for February 26th to March 4th in Ostersund, Sweden.

“There’s not many facilities in Canada that are capable of hosting events like this,” said Biathlon Competition Lead for Biathlon of the Caledonia Nordic Ski Club Aaron Sinclair.

The competition schedule is as follows:

  • January 3rd – Official Training
  • January 4th – Sprint Races
  • January 5th – Pursuit Races
  • January 6th – Training Day
  • January 7th – Mass Start Races

Additionally, two athletes from the new UNBC Biathlon team will be competing in the event, showcasing the new UNBC race suits.

There will also be four Caledonia Nordic Ski Club alumni competing, as well as five current race team members.

The event will be open to spectators.
